Personal Homepage Service
Introduction
Welcome to Personal Home Page Service of Alumni
Internet. We would like to provide a place for our Alumni to reflect
their activities, personal interests or the community they serve.
How to Submit Your Home Page to Alumni Account
Step 1
First of all, you should get a FTP (File Transfer
Protocol) program that helps you to transfer files to your account in
the Unix server (alumni.cuhk.edu.hk).
If you don't have one, we recommend you to download
a program called WS_FTP
LE from the CUHK FTP Server.
Step 2
Execute your FTP program to log on your UNIX account
in the Alumni Internet Server. After you enter your userid and password,
you should be in your home directory. Figure 1 below shows the initial
screen when you use WS_FTP to logon your account.
Step 3
Change the directory to www.
This is the directory where you place your home page. (For WS_FTP user,
you can click the www folder icon at the right hand side)
If you logon the account using a text-based FTP
program, you can enter command, cd www, after sucessful
logon to the system.
Step 4
Transfer all files required to this "www"
directory. Before you transfer these files, ensure that you have a file
under the "www" directory called index.html
which acts as your front page.
For WS_FTP user, you can mark all files from the
left hand side and click the -> button in the middle.

If using a text-based FTP program, you can enter
command, mput *.*, after sucessful logon to the system.
Step 5
Disconnect when transfer finished. Then follow the
section "Access to your Personal Home Page" below to browse
your page(s).
