How to connect to wireless LAN

You can now connect to the Internet through the CUguest Wi-Fi service within the CUHK campus. First connect to the wireless network CUguest using your notebook computer or mobile device.

Open your web browser and visit any web page, you will be directed to a page asking for accepting our user policies. After clicking the "Accept" button, login with your_username@alumni.cuhk.edu.hk and your password.

You are then ready to browse your favorite web sites. Since all the data are transferred in plain text, please refer to FAQ no 5 about how to access your e-mail through a secure channel.

You can check the wireless coverage within the campus to see whether there is coverage in the area you will visit.

Remark: You can still connect to the Internet using the old method (connect to VPN server through the wireless network alumninet) within some areas in libraries. However, it will be phased out soon and so you are not recommended to use it. You can check the Windows XP setup of this connection method.
