Modem Pool Upgrades

In order to further improve the dialup service of Alumni Internet, a new modem pool with 46 high-speed US Robotics 56K V.90 modem is now available for testing. The new number of this modem pool is 2933-0300. This modem pool supports ITU V.90 standard. You can simply change the current dial-up number in order to access this modem pool, all other dial-up settings remain unchanged.

Should you find problem using this new modem pool, please send us an email to helpdesk@alumni.cuhk.edu.hk or a fax message to 2603-5001 (Attn: Alumni Helpdesk). If no major problem was reported, the new modem pool would be put into production on November 17, 1997 (Monday).

On the same day, the dialup number 26036865 will be decommissioned and replaced by the above modem pool. In order to ease your migration to this new line, all calls to 26036865 will be forwarded to the new number 2933-0300 until Jan 17, 1998. Please make necessary action to change your dialup number during this period. Should you have problems to change the dialup number, pleaes send us an email to helpdesk@alumni.cuhk.edu.hk.
