職責

Primary responsibilities:

• Conduct patent search and analysis, including novelty check, FTO analysis, landscape analysis, etc.
• Maintain a patent pre-warning system and take effective measures of risk mitigation and control.
• Support drug discovery team for patent mining, drafting, and prosecution.
• Search and monitor latest patent and drug intelligence in relevant field, and analyse relevant prior art references.
• Support IP affairs in various R&D and BD projects.
• Partner with scientists and bioinformatics scientists in the creation, management, and protection of intellectual property assets. Provide legal and/or technical understanding to patents, maintain close interactions with R&D team.
Implement IP protection regulations (including patent & know-how protection regulations) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) at Hong Kong office.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
• Master’s degree or above in molecular biology, biology or pharmacology required.
U.S. State BAR and USPTO qualified (preferred), or equivalent qualifications in P.R.China or Europe (less preferred).
• 2-5 years’ post qualification experience as a Patent Attorney in a reputable law firm specializing in biomedical patents or as a Patent Counsel in a pharmaceutical company or biotech.
• Knowledge and experience in patent drafting, patent portfolio management, patent search and analysis, esp. in relation to biological sequence search; proficiency with mainstream patent databases.
• In-depth understanding of IP laws, and basic knowledge of novel drug R&D.
• Good communication skills, and readiness to learn new things and business travels.
Fluent in both spoken and written English, Mandarin (required) and Cantonese (preferred).
