✨ Steve Zhu (13/UC/BBA) 🌎came to Hong Kong from Chongqing for study, initially hoping to broaden his horizons. What began as a study-abroad experience ultimately transformed the course of his life. Today, as Senior Vice President - Head of Greater China, Private Wealth at Brookfield Asset Management, Steve says CUHK not only opened doors to the international financial world, but also provided him with invaluable opportunities for exchange, internships, and career development🤝🏻. Currently serving as President of the CUHK Mainland Alumni Association, Steve is also committed to giving back to his alma mater. “My best friends, my wife, and even one of the most outstanding subordinates I have worked with are all CUHK alumni.” He hopes to strengthen alumni bonds and serve the wider alumni community through the alumni association, while developing his own leadership skills through service and passing on the CUHK spirit 💗. For students considering studying in Hong Kong, Steve encourages them to be bold, embrace new opportunities, and not be afraid of failure, as the experience gained along the way is often more valuable than the outcome itself. ✨.

✨ Theodora Lee (05/NA/Professional Accountancy) 🌏 is currently a Superintendent of Police at the Commercial Crime Bureau Anti-Deception Coordination Centre, where she is committed to protecting international students in Hong Kong from fraud. Beyond raising students’ awareness of fraud prevention, Theodora is deeply concerned about the psychological trauma and pressure experienced by victims and their families. She spearheaded the establishment of the Youth-No-Scam Protection Hub, which provides psychological support to scam victims and helping them rebuild their lives and move beyond the trauma of fraud🫂. Theodora is grateful for the education she received at CUHK, which helped her recognise gaps in existing support services💗. Reflecting on the University motto, “Through Learning and Temperance to Virtue”, she believes it encourages lifelong learning and openness to new knowledge, while also reminding us to cultivate empathy and uphold a strong sense of social responsibility.

💗 Venny Chan (98/SC/BBA, 05/GS/MBA) identified the growing accommodation needs of international and mainland students studying in Hong Kong as early as 2012. She founded Contented Living Limited, transforming old residential buildings into student hostels. Today, the company operates 15 hostels, offering more than 1,000 bed spaces. 💫 The idea for the business emerged while she and her two fellow CUHK MBA classmates were participating in activities at their alma mater. Noticing the increasing number of mainland students coming to Hong Kong and the housing challenges they faced, they decided to establish a company, with the goal of providing students with a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home away from home. 🏠 Venny is deeply grateful for the education and opportunities she received at CUHK. ✨ In addition to meeting her two like-minded co-founders at the University, the accounting and management knowledge she gained remains valuable today, helping her successfully build and manage her business.💗 訪問全文 Full Article：https://alumni.cuhk.edu.hk/zh-hk/alumni-story/%e3%80%90issue127%e3%80%91venny-chan/ 𝙁𝙊𝙇𝙇𝙊𝙒 𝙐𝙎: 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠 / 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 / 𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙚𝙙𝙄𝙣 / 𝙒𝙚𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙩 / 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙏𝙪𝙗𝙚 @𝙘𝙪𝙝𝙠𝙖𝙖𝙤 #中大 #中大校友 #CUHK #CUHKAlumni #CUAlumniMagazine

🧪 Ho Kin-chung (79/NA/Biology) has devoted his life to scientific research and environmental conservation🌏. After serving in the Environmental Protection Department of the HK government, he embarked on an academic and research journey, dedicating four decades to the study of red tide and becoming a leading expert in the area. His research later extended to the polar regions, taking him to both Arctic and Antarctic more than 30 times. Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to advancing research, he donated million dollars from his retirement savings to establish the Bauhinia Station of the Polar Research Institute of Hong Kong in the Arctic.
